Replacing Windows Explorer

FileBoss is not only a great way to manipulate thousands of files at once it is also the perfect tool for viewing and managing files one folder at a time.

You can tell FileBoss to be an option on the shell's context menu (the right-click menu displayed for folders and drives on the desktop and even from within Windows Explorer).

You can also set FileBoss to be the default action for drives and folders so that it will be used instead of Windows Explorer when you double-click a folder or drive. (Yes, even from within Windows Explorer.)

No Tricks to Replace Windows Explorer

FileBoss never physically replaces Windows Explore nor make Windows think that it is Windows Explorer. This avoids the many problems experienced in the past with other Windows Explorer replacements that could, and did, destabilize Windows.

Setting FileBoss as an Option on the Shell's Context Menu

You decide how and when, if at all, FileBoss will replace Windows Explorer as the default viewer for Folders.

When FileBoss is installed it makes one simple registry entry so that it will be displayed as an entry in the Shells (Windows Explorer's) context menu. When you right-click a folder on the desktop or from within Windows Explorer the popup will be similar to the one below.

 But even this mild level of integration can be removed.

Setting FileBoss as the Default Viewer for Folders

You decide how and when, if at all, FileBoss will replace Windows Explorer as the default viewer for Folders.

You can set FileBoss as the default viewer for folders and drives at your discretion.

Options for Integrating FileBoss with Windows

Note that changing these options only changes a couple of well-documented registry entries - nothing tricky is involved.

(If you are already using FileBoss you can get to these settings by using the Options | Program Options... command from the main menu and select Windows Integration from the list of option pages on the left side.)
