Update May 2017

A May 2017 Microsft security update for Windows 10 conflicted with a major routine in FileBoss resulting in FileBoss not starting on some Windows 10 systems.

Versions V3.101 and later, fix the problem. You can read more about this at the page
Windows Creators Conflict.

Help Everywhere

Context help for Dialogs

The Help Guide (, Ctrl-G or Help > Show Help Guide...) displays a small floating dialog providing quick access to many useful topics in the main help system. The topics it contains also provide a great overview of what FileBoss can do.

By default the Help Guide is displayed automatically when FileBoss first starts and it will display a different topic from the Help file each time. Either or both of these behaviors can be turned off using the two check boxes at the bottom of the dialog.

Context help for Dialogs

Right-click almost any item and detailed help will be displayed. Can be turned off or set to only show help when right-clicked while the Shift key is held down. Configure in the Advanced 2 Options page (use Tools | Options... from the main menu).

Dialogs that have context help will have a help pointer (typically on the right side of the title bar). Click on the help pointer and then on the control you'd like help for. This is the same help that would be displayed if you right-clicked the control.

Hint Balloons

FileBoss has many help balloons that will appear when you perform various actions. These balloon provide information that might help you complete the operation you are doing or provide you with more ideas on what can be done.

Often these hint balloons provide a link to complete help by clicking the 'More Info...' text in the lower-right corner of the balloon.

They can also be turned off one by one by clicking on the 'Don't Show Again' text in the lower-left corner of the balloon.

And finally all the hint balloon can be turned on or off using the Warnings and Hints tab or the options dialog (Select Options > Program Options... from the main menu).

And, of course, the Help File

Use the Help item from the main menu to access all kinds of great information.
