Special Handling when Copying
Files from CDs
Files on most CDs and DVDs are set to Read-Only, even when
the original files that were copied to the CDs were not.
This can be a real pain when copying those files back to a
HD as many programs will refuse to modify a read-only file
(such as Word Processors and Graphics programs).
So FileBoss will remove the read-only bit
from files when they are being copied from CDs and DVDs.
While removing the read-only bit is the default setting it
can be changed easily using Options | Program Options...
command
from the main menu
and selecting the Copy Files panel. As shown in the
screen fragment below:

Note:
The read-only bit will only be removed when the
FileBoss Copy Engine is used.
When files are dropped on
FileBoss or a Drop Zone and they are configured to use the
normal Windows Copy engine the read-only bits will not be
changed.
(Whether FileBoss' Advanced Internal Copy Engine or the
normal Windows' copy engine will be used for file Dropped on
FileBoss or a Drop Zone can be configured easily using the
Options | Program Options...
command from the main menu
and selecting either the the Drag & Drop or Drop
Zone panel as appropriate.
(Please note that clearing the read-only
file attribute does not allow copy protected CDs or DVDs to be
duplicated or copied. FileBoss does not break copy protection
schemes.)
