Using Favorites for Quick Access

Quick Navigation to Folders

Create New Explore View Directly to a Folder

by selecting the a Favorite for the new Explore View to start at.

Easily Create from a Folder

simply right-click on a folder name in the list of folders (the right-hand pane) and select Folder Tools | Add to Favorites from the popup menu. (Or click the down arrow next to the Favorite button and select the Add command.)

Default Favorites

are created by FileBoss when the program is first run. The defaults consist of the drives connected to the computer and common folders such as My Documents and My Pictures (the exact folders will depend on the version of Windows and the setup of your computer).

Dynamic Favorites

Point to the current drives on your computer and are updated whenever the list of Favorites is displayed. These dynamic Favorites to drives can be displayed at the top or bottom of the Favorite list or disabled. In addition you can specify that they display the drive's full name, e.g. System C:\ or traditional letter notation, e.g. C:\.

Default and User Defined Names

Default names are given to new Favorites based on the name of the folder they refer too. These can be manually changed when editing Favorites

Persistent

FileBoss remembers Favorites from one session to another.

Working with Favorites

 

To Create a Favorite

  • Right-click a folder in the folder list (the left window pane) and select Folder Tools | Add to Favorites from the popup menu
  • or highlight the folder, click the down arrow next to the Favorite button () and select the Add command.

To Go To a Favorite

  • Click the down arrow () and select the bookmark from the list
  • or select a bookmark from the Edit | Favorite > main menu item. (Only available when an Explore View is active.)

Starting a new Tab using a Favorites

  • Click the down arrow () and select a bookmark from the list
  • or select a bookmark from the Edit | Favorites > main menu item.

To Delete a Favorite

Open the Favorite Editor
  • Click the down arrow next to the bookmark button () and select the Edit Favorites command.
  • or select Edit | Favorites | Edit Favorites command from the main menu.
Then
  • In the Edit Favorites dialog highlight the bookmark and click the Delete button.

To Rename a Favorite

Open the Favorite Editor
  • Click the down arrow next to the bookmark button () and select the Edit Favorites command.
  • or select Edit | Favorites | Edit Favorites command from the main menu.
Then
  • In the Edit Favorites dialog highlight the bookmark and click the Edit button. In the Edit dialog everything before an open chevron (>) is the title and everything after it is the bookmark. (If there is no chevron the whole string is both the title and the bookmark.

Reset Favorites to the Default List

Open the Favorite Editor
  • Click the down arrow next to the bookmark button () and select the Edit Favorites command.
  • or select File | Open Favorite | Edit Favorites command from the main menu.
Then
  • In the Edit Favorites dialog click the Delete All button and then the OK button to close the dialog.

 

The next time you access the Favorites (by selecting one to go to or to create an Explore View from, FileBoss will repopulate the Favorites' list with default values
